How Do Children Learn?
The Secret of Individualization

"How do children learn?" The answer to that question can unlock the door to success for your child. Accelerated Christian Education (A.C.E.) has done considerable research to answer the question, "How do children learn?"

The results may surprise you. The results show that children...

1. Have varying I.Q.'s and learn at different rates.
2. Must learn specific developmental skills.
3. Process information differently at different developmental levels.
4. Learn best through repetition and review.
5. Vary greatly in their abilities to learn through visual (seeing), auditory (hearing), and kinesthetic/tactile (touching) learning.

A.C.E. has developed a distinctive, individualized, high-tech educational package that addresses these issues.

So how do children learn? Let's take a closer look at these factors that so critically impact your child's learning.

The A.C.E. Advantage

You'll find that the A.C.E. meets each of the five areas mentioned above head-on...

1. Since children have different I.Q.'s and learn at different rates, testing to determine each child's I.Q. and performance level is critical. A.C.E. not provides testing but also diagnosis and prescriptions for each child.

2. Testing also reveals whether a child has attained certain developmental skills. For instance, skills that are necessary before the learning-to-read process begin include sequencing, recognition of colors and shapes, relationships, left-right coordination, and the ability to process some information on a subconscious level.

A.C.E. helps you with all these areas in the Preschool with Ace and Christi program. The hard part has already been done for your.

3. Children process information differently in varying stages of physical development. Nearly all children from preschool to puberty are able to answer the "who, what, where, and when" questions. At puberty, brain chemistry changes. At this point, children begin to develop critical thinking skills that help them answer "how and why" questions.

A.C.E. core curriculum below seventh level presents the "who, what, when, and where" question, but "how and why" questions are addressed above seventh level. These critical skill of deductive reasoning and logical thinking are necessary for your child's college preparation as well as for his preparation for life.

4. A.C.E. curriculum is mastery-based. Most children need to have a concept repeated five to seven times for mastery. Therefore, vocabulary words are introduced and repeated at least five times and are practiced and tested.

Academic concepts are presented and reviewed in a spiral approach that builds to mastery. Progress is controlled, and your child moves on only after he has demonstrated understanding and mastery of the material.

5. Children gain understanding of academic material in different ways. Some children learn best visually. They see it and can learn.

Other children learn better auditorily. If they hear it, they remember it better. Still others absorb facts and concepts through hands-on experience.

A.C.E. PACE's incorporate color, pictures, diagrams, and other enhancements to stimulate learning. Each child has the opportunity for individual attention by reading aloud or discussing concepts with you to assure mastery.
